The Decentralization Project
The mission of The Decentralization Project, an initiative by IT Global Community Services (501c3), is to create a network of decentralized farms, home growers, and community gardens to improve regional food quality and security. We achieve this by accepting donations of money, land, tools, and volunteer time to grow sustainable, farm-fresh produce. By supporting local farmers and gardeners, promoting sustainable practices, and utilizing unused land, we ensure that fresh, high-quality food reaches shelters, food banks, and other organizations serving those in need.
Why the Decentralization Project?
The Decentralization Project transforms the traditional approach to food security by leveraging community-driven solutions that maximize resource efficiency and cost savings. Through donations of land, labor, and tools, we significantly reduce the upfront expenses typically associated with agriculture. This means that every dollar donated to The Decentralization Project has the potential to grow exponentially more food than the same dollar spent at a grocery store. For example, a single dollar can produce up to 10 pounds of tomatoes through our decentralized model, compared to just 0.25 to 0.5 pounds when purchasing at retail. This 20-40x increase in food production underscores the power of community-based farming and decentralized networks. By supporting local growers, encouraging sustainable practices, and making the most of donated resources, we ensure that nutritious, farm-fresh produce reaches those in need—far more efficiently and affordably than traditional methods. This model holds immense promise for addressing food insecurity while promoting environmental sustainability and community resilience.

Land Conservation
Acquiring and protecting land is essential to our agricultural development plans and the continuous growth of our projects. We are actively seeking opportunities in the New England region to preserve nature and establish restorative farming practices. This includes putting un-utilized land to productive use, establishing protective easements to ensure restorative agricultural practices, and increasing overall biodiversity in agricultural environments to support the most ecologically friendly food production systems

In 2022, 191,641 meals were served to participants at our Adult Emergency Shelter, Family Emergency Shelter, and Recovery Housing. Our Dining Services Manager coordinates daily meals to be nutritious and filling. We use fresh ingredients like produce donated to our Food Pantry or other goods donated from community partners.

Bee Free or Die Farms is the pilot decentralized farm. Utilizing AI, Technology, Innovation, Sustainable Practices, and Restorative Practices BFODF's is on track to donate hundreds of pounds of fresh produce, eggs, honey, and more.
